buy Line stickers without credit cards in Indonesia..

17 Feb

Japan-based chat app Line is quite popular in Indonesia, and finally it’s now possible for Indonesian users to buy stickers without credit cards. How? With Telkomsel credit.

Each sticker pack costs IDR 18,700 ($1.6), which is equivalent to 100 coins on Line. Of course, users can also buy game items using the same carrier billing feature.

All purchases can only be made through Line Store website. Users can type in their Telkomsel number on the website and receive SMS confirmation of the purchase – either it’s a direct item purchase or a Line credit top up. What’s left to do is just confirm the SMS and get your Telkomsel phone credit deducted.

In comparison, rival KakaoTalk has implemented the same carrier billing feature with Telkomsel for about a year. The Korean chat app is also integrated with two other telcos – Indosat and XL Axiata. The sticker packs on KakaoTalk are much cheaper though, selling for IDR 5,500 (50 cents) or IDR 9,900 ($1) a piece.

Everybody in Indonesia is now on a e-shopping craze with the daily promos that Line offers on its official account “Line Shopping”. The traffic that came from Rakuten Belanja Online’s 90 percent discount promo on iPad Mini was so huge that the site went down temporarily yesterday.
